I’m back.
In the past six months I’ve suffered a string of ailments; starting with “Drunk Elbow”. It’s a real aliment. Look it up. My “Elbow” triggered an extremely high pulse, chest pain, and required a 911 call. The symptoms lasted for several months.
Next came a fall resulting in a torn ligament in my left thigh. “Extreme swelling” in my case is an understatement. The entire left leg was twice the normal size and colored a deep purple which I didn’t know could happen to humans. That one lasted for 6 weeks.
Next, what sounds relatively minor compared to the first 2 maladies, were swelling around 2 fingernails. All those required was an antibiotic to heal but were painful and very disruptive. I found out that a pair of scissors will not work in your left hand.
The fourth and most recent injury was a cracked rib brought on by moving all of the living room furniture to lay down a 9 by 12 area rug. The highlight of this extremely painful injury is the secretion of bone marrow from the cracked rib. Not only scary but, extremely painful for over 2 weeks.
Why all these injuries in such a short period of time? My wife, as usual, had the answer. She explained; “You’re a 79 year old man who thinks he’s stopped aging at 55. The cause of all four was overexertion.
Most recently I’ve regained enough strength to resume a daily exercise routine. My annual physical examination was just last week. My blood pressure is 127 over 75, not bad for an old man.
Pain is a highly effective teacher. No more heavy lifting for Bob and I doubt that I’ll ever miss my daily exercise routine in the future.
