Leaders and Liters

As you know by now, I’m a word guy. Any play on words is probably the most fun I’ll have all day. The latest one that squirmed out of my brain occurred this morning, Hence, the title of this article. I found the following using the A-EYE genius to assure you that the title words are, indeed, homophones;

“In American English, the words “leader” and “liter” are homophones because they sound alike, but their meanings are completely different. A “leader” is someone who leads, and a “liter” is a unit of volume.”

There will be no photos atop this article simply because I do not want to appear to be endorsing any politician and you don’t need a photo to imagine the beauty of a tall glass of imported ale/beer.

Have a liter before and after you hear any of our leaders speak.

To avoid the need for more than two liters, limit your exposure to our leaders to 30 minutes or less. Just like misleading caveats included in every prescription drug commercial, political commercials should be followed with the same kind of warning; “The previous political commercial was full of lies, misstatements, and exaggerations.”

P.S. After I finish each little blurb article such as the above, I check the internet to see how original my idea might be. With apologies to no one, I published the above despite the google machine showing a gazillion articles using this homophone. After reviewing all of them, I found my article to be the wittiest.
